Visiting Great Grandad and Grandmum Close

Somehow I managed to get a photo of my favorite flowers (Frangapeny ), and yet not any of Joshua with two of his Great Grandparents. Luckily we will be making the drive out to Gympie again and I will make sure that I get photos then.

After lunch Joshua went out on the back porch to watch James' Uncle Edwin mowing the massive lawn (it takes about 7-8 hours to do both yards). We did take a short walk around the gardens later, but it was way to hot to stay out in the sun for too long, Joshua's head was dripping with sweat. Between Edwin and Grandad and Grandmum, they own 10 acres all beautifully landscaped with small damns, a huge variety of trees, and beautiful flowers, as well as the family grove, where a tree has been planted for each new member of the family. Uncle Edwin works for the Council (State) landscaping and maintaining of all of the Parks and State land, which explains why he loves spending so much time on his own and Grandad's gardens.

On the way back to the coast Joshua fell asleep (thank goodness). He has been taking a lot of his naps in the car. He has finally got use to sleeping at night and not waking up until after 6am, but he still wants to take a nap at about 10 or 11 in the morning instead of in the afternoon.

Playing Around

Who needs sand toys when you have trucks? Joshua just plays with the beach balls and his life guard rescue truck, while James and I make sand castles.

After watching James go surfing, Joshua ran out into the waves to meet James and immediately climbed up onto the board. I think we have a little surfer on our hands.

It is so hard to figure out which surfer is James in a group of about 20 guys all with whitish boards and mainly white boardies (shorts).

We had a few days of rain this last week and so we went with most of the cousins to a Chipmunks, kind of like Bouncing Bears, but way bigger and better. I took tons of photos, but this one has the most kids in it. Top is Joshua, to the left of James is Sophie (9) and Connie (6), and the cutie with a green ball covering his face is Sam (3)

Australia trip post one

On the flight we were on from LAX to Fiji, we got to sit in the row right behind the 1st class (you know the one with extra leg room) and they have these wonderful bassinets for the "babies" to sleep in. Well Joshua is obviously to long for it, but it sure was nice to have on an over night 10 hour flight.
Joshua was searching through my bag to find something more to play with and found my glasses. Ahhh, isn't it wonderful when they are easily amused?
We took Joshua to the beach last night and had so much fun splashing in the little tide pools and just enjoying the warm outdoors.

Joshua was born for this kind of weather, he loves not having to put shoes and a coat on to be able to run outside and play around. If it were up to him we would never go inside.

This morning I was awakened by one of the traditionally dressed native Aboriginals. Joshua is still not used to the 19 hour difference, and so when he awoke at 4:30am James took him upstairs to play, and Nana (James's Mum) had a whole box full of Jewelry for the kids to play with. It is hard to see, but he also has bangles around his thigh and ankles. Unfortunately I could not get him to smile at me since he had just gotten in trouble.
